There are many folks who quote the brilliant Otto Warburg in regards to his research on the survival mechanisms of cancer cells. Generally researchers over the past century have claimed that cancer cells have an anaerobic internal environment which require fermentation / sugars to survive as opposed to a healthy cell which needs oxygenation (and which would be to the detriment of the cncer cell).
So let’s look at the myths… he ‘only’ received one Nobel prize – for the discovery of an enzyme which he called iron oxidase. Brilliant work! And to think research then was done without the help of high-powered microscopes such as what we use with live blood analysis…
There was NO nobel prize for him for treating cancer by flooding malignant cells with oxygen. He was brilliant, but never produced research showing that cancer cells cannot live in an oxygenated environment – pinnochio made that one up and many others ran with it…
If, after all, it were that easy, we’d just go and have oxygen injections into tumours (does have a good effect) or sit in a hyperbaric chamber to resolve cancer challenges (neither work for cancer – just for some of the associated symptoms).
Cancer cells, just like regular cells, actually need both oxygen and sugars to survive. Otto Warburg, however, did look for constituents in all type of cells that are directly involved in the consumption of oxygen (a much more complex task than just assuming that cancer cells only need sugars to survive). He also shed light on the function of cytochromes, a protein involved in electron transfer and which our bodies use to bind oxygen to iron-containing heme.
He also showed that the enzymes that transferred cellular oxygen were different from other iron-containing enzymes and then discovered how iron affected the cell’s use of this oxygen – and that earned him the Nobel Prize in 1931.
Warburg then delved even deeper into cell chemistry and discovered flavoproteins, which take part in the dehydrogenation reactions in cells and do not act alone, but in conjunction with a non-protein component now called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide – a co-enzyme called NAD.
However, the cancer cells’ response to ozone (including singlet oxygen) is a different matter. Healthy cells deal nicely with an over-the-top influx of ‘O’ molecules. Cancer cells do not.
For example, medical grade O2 is electrically zapped by a cold corona / cold plasma process by using an ozone generator. This unique process breaks down O2 into singlet oxygen molecules and then these recombine and become unstable O3 molecules and even all the way through to O25.
These are ‘GOOD’ pro-oxidative molecules. These exagerated amounts of oxygen molecules circulating as O3 to O25 stimulate interferons; they stimulate Natural Killer cells; they stimulate the white granular macrophage cells; they react with the lipid peroxide on many cell surfaces; and cause the O, O3, O4 etc, to enter through cell walls and with much more ease, as well as doing more cleanup and pro-oxidative scavanging!
Peroxide, for example, is one common source of oxygenation for detoxing… and if used smartly and very, very causiously (often used in drinking water – one drop at a time by lay people) then this is a verrrry slow but tricky way to create gentle detoxification and healing (for example, some naturopaths have suggested one food grade drop in a glass of water, then two drops, then three, per day).
Yet oral ingestion is not always the best route (via the stomach and intestines). In this method the re-oxygenation benefits may be overshadowed by the ability of the extra O’s to combine and eliminate bacteria. These may be very beneficial bacteria (with tasks such as involvement in repairing gums, healing throat tissue and stomach lining and are part of the intestinal tract biome, etc)
Generally extra O’s permeate the cancer cell walls as well as the neighbouring healthy cell walls – it’s an equal opportunity barrier! Cancer cells don’t have the enzymes within them to break down this extra peroxide intrusion. Instead the cancer cell swells; then it bursts; then it dies and some of the O’s re-emerge and re-permeate into the next nearest surrounding cell which may also be a cancer cell or perform some good scavenging on the nearby tissue or in the blood – very efficient.
Ozone / oxygen injections into a tumor, for example, are a unique and tricky procedure and useful when one has a surface cancer and works with ultra-sound imaging. This is not an allowable practice in North America so it’s unlikely to be perfected (and sadly not taught in North American medical or naturopathic schools)! Can you imagine how brilliant, inexpensive, patient-friendly this therapy could be for all of us. Pity.
In Europe one would seek out a highly experienced physician who knows how to inject the tumour itself without damaging ANY blood vessels – a procedure requiring extreme skill. In these unique clinics (mainly in Germany), wobenzymes – brilliant garbage gobbling enzymes – are also part of their cancer abating tool-kits.
Invasive therapies should be performed only by top-notch highly experienced medical professionals.
